MARTINIS AND MANHATTANS

These drinks are distinctly different from each other but remain to be alike. Martinis are white and Manhattans are dark. Both can be served straight up or on the rocks. A Martini is dry and Manhattan sweet. Each can be ordered by a brand of liquor requested or mixed with house liquors.

 

Steps

1. Fill rocks glass with ice using scoop (or cocktail glass).

2. Add vermouth (for a drier marUni use one drop).

3. Add requested liquor.

4. Add garnish and serve with cocktail napkin.

 

RECIPES

1. Martini

3 drops dry vermouth

1 V2 oz. gin

Olive garnish

 

2. Rob Roy

3 or 4 drops sweet verrnouth

11/2 oz Scotch

Cherry garnish

 

3. Manhattan

4 drops sweet vermouth

1 l/2 oz whiskey

Cherry garnish

 

4. Perfect Manhattan

2 drops sweet and 2 drops dry verrnouth

I 1/2 oz whiskey

Lemon garnish

 

Using a stainless steel mixing cup, add rocks glass of ice, mix ingredients and strain in chilled cocktail glass for "Straight up" drinks.

To pour an extra dry or dry Martini pour dry vermouth (3 drops) then strain, using strainer pour out vermouth so that it only leaves a trace of vermouth. This will show your skill in this category to any experienced martini drinker.

A perfect Rob Roy has scotch with sweet and dry vermouth. Perfect means that it has both vermouths.
